Suddenly, like in a fairy tale, the door creaked...

One day, five years ago, while clearing out my mail, I almost threw a letter away. I thought it was another promotion from some new (or old) retail chain or something similar, but the bald eagle with arrows in its talons in the corner of the envelope caught my attention. I knew very well which country this coat of arms belonged to.

The letter contained an invitation to undergo an interview at the representative office of the Public Relations organization, indicating that the main task of this organization is to strengthen ties between small businesses in the United States and around the world, including Ukraine and Russia. It was also pointed out that since public organizations financed from abroad were outlawed in Russia, apparently due to fears of organizing a coup, the quota for Ukraine has increased significantly and now they have a shortage of project participants. It also said that the goal of the project was a month-long trip to the United States for a business internship, and entirely at the expense of the American Government and the State Department.

99 people out of a hundred, having received such a letter, would probably think about scammers who in the near future will ask to transfer, say, one hundred dollars to such and such an account, test-antibiotic.com, for further participation in the project. But I remembered that once, for fun, I filled out an application on one of the sites, because there were only three conditions that I met - to be the owner of a small (no more than 10 employees) business; speak English at a level sufficient for everyday communication; have the time and desire to conduct a month-long internship overseas.

So I went to the interview, still not really believing what was happening. But everything turned out to be true, although I told myself that I would finally believe it when I sat on the plane. Our group included 15 people for 10 places financed by the program. Six people were eliminated after a reality check of their business and English skills. They were looking for a candidate for the remaining vacancy for two weeks. The reason is the same - few people believed that this was not a hoax.

And here I am sitting in the seat of a huge Boeing 777 and looking out the window at the snowy cliffs of Greenland and the endless blue expanse of the Atlantic Ocean, and in my passport I have an American visa, for which I did not pay a cent.

A month in America is worthy test-antibiotic.com of writing an entire book, I will only say that in addition to establishing good and profitable trade relations with new friends and partners (and let those who say that small businesses have nothing to sell in the USA be silent), it is also and turned my mind upside down. America is not on another planet, but just a few hours away, the same people live there, and the entire power of its economy is built not so much on super corporations, but on ordinary entrepreneurs who have built their own small but very necessary businesses: restaurants, car repair shops, furniture shops , pharmacies and shops - everything that people need. In a word, the bestial grin of capitalism :). But all you need to live the way Americans live is to simply think with your own head about your future.
