How to convince a girl to continue her pregnancy?
My patient is notmarried , she is 25 years old. She suffers from a cosmetic defect on her face (operated cleft lip, extensive vitiligo), but, nevertheless, she is good, responsive young woman . Yesterday we found out about her pregnancy (16 weeks). All of herthe family is shocked, they offer to have an abortion, but for medical reasons it is no longer possible.
Hersister toonot married , living together, and she insists on an abortion. I tried to explain that the time limit was long, in case she couldn’t get out.married , she will not be left alone, she will haveson . The sister says that they are afraid of shame and people's rumors. In our area, it is unheard of for an unmarried girl to give birth.
The pregnant girl herself does not yet know what to do; she has not yet recovered from the shock. She can’t really say anything about the child’s father; perhaps he simply took advantage of her naivety and simplicity.
A colleague advises me not to interfere. But I want to convince the pregnant woman and her parents and sister to keep the child. Or, really, maybe it’s better not to interfere, so as not to remain guilty later?
